In reply, please note that the right name should be ( Talamas ) in Arabic (طلاماس ). As far as I recall this street was near the College des Freres ( Gratuites ) i.e. the Branch were students who were unable to pay the normal scholar fees were transferred to learn free of charge!. In that vicinity was located the famous Villa Talamas ( which had two lion statues on the entry gate ) . I recall that I had a classmate in the Secondaries of ( College des Freres - St. Joseph ) who was called Mr.Andre Talamas and related to Count Talamas. Most probably this Family is either of Syrian or Lebanese origin. I browsed through (Google) the following Talamas links to try to find historical background :- Lana Talamas - Issa-David Talamas - www.CousinConnect.com , www.Ancestry.com but could not reach any useful information. I then contacted by e-mail through their website www.arabyaffa.org our friends The League of the Arabs of Jaffa in Jaffa, asking for their help either directly to you or through me. I will go ahead trying to locate anybody here in Amman- Jordan where I do live, who may provide any further info about this subject and keep you informed in due time. Kindly note that I was born January 1932 in the Old City of Jaffa where our family's building still exists and studied at the College des Freres ( St.Joseqh ) 1938-1948. Should you be in need of any informatioin about my birthplace and memories, I will be glad to submit.
